Death Cab For Cutie Coming To Bellingham

11 February 2009 No Comment

deathcabfilter1I can’t remember the last time Death Cab For Cutie played Bellingham, but I know it’s long overdue. The last time I saw them was in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room, a long time ago. They’re finally hitting town, but sadly (and perhaps controversially), tickets are only available if you are a current WWU student. Which means all of their fans in town that supported them in the beginning can’t go to the show. The fair thing to do would be to have the band play a show at the Nightlight, and make it only available to locals who can prove they attended at least one Death Cab show while the band was still a Bellingham band, or perhaps you’d be let in by showing your worn cassette copy of You Can Play These Songs With Chords. The show will be on Thursday, April 23rd at the Mt. Baker Theater with Ra Ra Riot opening - ticket info here.

Update: They have added a second, general admission show on April 22nd! Tickets go on sale Feb 17th at 10:00 am through the Mt. Baker Theater.
Update #2: I was able to get tickets this morning - as of 11:00 am it looks like they have about 40 left - act fast!
