DT’s - Live Hot Nasty CD
The DT’s - Live-Hot-Nasty CD (Serpent’s Hole)
by Anna Rankin (What’s Up Magazine - July 2009)
Looking for a new album full of relentless rock ‘n’ roll for your collection? Well look no further, The DT’s’ newest offering will fill your niche.
The nine tracks on Live-Hot-Nasty were recorded live in July of 2008 on the “Drinking from the Puddles” radio show on KBOO 90.7 FM in Portland, Oregon. They don’t mess around getting right into the action with the first track “April Holeso” and you are taken head first into the action with them. The album doesn’t even begin to slow down until the fourth track “Crowfinger,” and by “slow down” I mean more of a heavy soul number than the outright rockin’ that makes up the rest of the album.
Powered by the vocals of Diana Young-Blanchard, The DT’s blend the emotional power of R&B with a one-two punch of rock ‘n’ roll, and it is a heavy punch. The production is seamless and there is nary a second to take a breath between tracks as one song carries into the next.
Their love of 70’s-style-hard-rock is apparent and it is no wonder that Ike and Tina Turner are listed as one of their biggest influences, especially the last tune “Too Much Woman (for a Henpecked Man)”. I don’t doubt her for a minute. The album comes in just over 30 minutes, and frankly, when you talk about quality over quantity, you wouldn’t need an album to be any longer.
Live-Hot-Nasty explodes with voracious energy from start to finish and perfectly captures the intensity of their live shows.
