Chicken Scratch Fanzine - Issue 2 From Gritty Kitty Records

This is the 2nd fanzine from my collection of zines from the early-to-mid 90’s. This was a freebee that came with a cassette tape featuring the unique stylings of Grover and Noggin. Sadly, I don’t have a cassette player at the moment, but I’ll find a way to listen to it later and review it here. What’s Up With The Nightlight?

Bellingham desperately needs the Nightlight to re-open - we are simply lacking a decent venue for touring bands. Wild Buffalo is great for the kinds of shows that it’s been delivering for years, but when it gets really full (like at the last Devotchka show) it gets miserable. The Mt. Baker Theatre has a new space and are starting to book some decent shows, but it still doesn’t completely fill the void that the closure of the Nightlight has left. Everyone’s favorite former local bartender, Neko Case (she bar tended at the 3-B Tavern before releasing her first solo record, has released the first single, “People Gotta Lot Of Nerve”, from her new Middle Cyclone CD as a free download. On top of the song being another amazing addition to her catalog, and even on top of probably the most amazing album cover of 2009, Neko and Anti Records are donating $5 to Best Friends Animal Society for each blog that posts a link to her new song.
